The Frogs Class has been developed over many years to meet the changing needs of our children as they prepare to transition to their next destination. We have answered the call for a kindergarten year to be also included in the class for those parents who want a rich, varied curriculum with small student ratios and the availability of intimate relationships with students and teachers. Any parent who has an interest in this class can easily find many, many families who sing the praises of the opportunity for children to have a full year with an incredible curriculum and beautiful surroundings.
The Frogs Class emphasizes individual learning through the availability for students to progress at their own speed and own level of competence. Teachers carefully note their strengths and challenges and assist where there is assistance needed. Special attention to each child's achievement in not only cognitive competency but emotional/social growth to independence and well-being. A confident joyful child will cheerfully be ready for all the demand that comes next, looking forward eagerly to learning, playing and caring.
There are so many levels of variety offered by this class including a carpentry bench complete with real tools, and artistic monthly project called the "Artist of the Month", which includes the study of many artists and individual creation of a piece of art in the style of the featured artist. A load of materials and activities to support pre-reading, creative writing, math development, and fun choices as well. Students also make good use of our outside areas’ opportunities for climbing, swinging, sandboxing, bike-riding, games, nature appreciation and more. The year ends with the performance of a play written and performed by the students including the sewing of costumes that they have designed.
